Bob Landis will cover the following during this event:

 COVID-19 Response

The COVID-19 Pandemic was quite challenging for everyone, but HR departments were at the “tip of the spear.”  We were all tasked to define policies, protocols and employee communication that aligned with the constantly evolving direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Then we had to execute employee health checks, manage employee quarantine situations and help families cope with things like working from home while trying to help their children complete their online school work.  All of this was on top of our already full plates of recruiting, training, learning & development and employee relations work.  I would like to share a bit about what helped my team to be successful during this very stressful period and, more importantly, what some of our key learnings are from the experience.  The headlines for this are:

  • We need a Plan:  Lessons from a real Firefighter
  • Creating Calm during the Storm with Predictable Communication

Herr’s HR Team – Our Future Plans

I’ll take just a few minutes to talk about the things that my team is working on now and what is on our radar screen for the future.  These include the following:

  • Recovering from the Pandemic:  how should we work together now?
  • Reinvesting in our Culture:  What to keep?  What to change?
  • Ready, set, GROW:  Arming every employee with new, relevant learning and development tools
